Today was a very special day in Madyson's life. For months-she and I have been discussing what it takes to be a Christian, What it means, What you do to become a Christian, What happens after. She has had tons of questions and I have done my very best (along with Todd, Our Life Group, Our church family) to teach her these things. A few days ago-she came to me and said, "I am ready." I knew what she meant. I asked her if she had asked Jesus to live inside her heart and she had.
I have known for a few years that Madyson would be an early follower of Christ. She thrives on the word of God, she speaks of the bible when she talks about daily life relating lessons she knows by heart to her (or anyone who will listens) situation.
She has a servant's heart and has for many years.
She knows she is a sinner, she believes that Jesus died for her sins and that he is God's son, she knows she must confess her sins to him and ask for forgiveness-she felt it in her heart that this was the time. Today she talked with Miss Kelley Beth-our Children's Ministry Associate about her desire to be baptized. She wants to be baptized so she can be an example to others to follow Christ.
Tonight she and I walked hand in hand down to the front of the church and she made her profession of faith in front of the congregation. I was so proud of her. She is a very shy child (def. gets that from her daddy) and was a little timid to in front of everyone.
Madyson-You have made the most important decision of your life. You are now a follower of Christ and baby as wonderful as that is. It will be very hard. You will face temptations, struggles, obstacles, and storms and it will not be easy. Seek God during these times Madyson-SEEK GOD. Bury yourself in the word of God and let him be your path. If you have to make a decision that you are unsure of-let him make it for you. You will know. As long as you trust. But baby-I say this to-you will make mistakes. No matter how hard you try-sometimes you will sin and when you do-do not be prideful. Ask for His forgiveness. Let Him know you know you did wrong-and ask for guidance when making other decisions. Daddy and I are so proud of you moomoo-We love you and We are thankful to be your brother and sister in Christ.
{{INSIDE FOR MADYSON'S MEMORY: We had talked about when mommy went down front and I told you that Nana made me wear this awful flower dress that looked like a curtain. When you said you wanted to be comfortable going down front-I told you God loves you for you and you wear whatever you want. You chose a grey ruffle shirt-light wash denim shorts-and your turquoise Toms. I love you for this and I am so proud of you and who you are becoming. It is my greatest joy being your mother. God has intrusted me with your life and I am blessed because of it.}}
Sarah, I am sitting here in clinic almost crying! How precious and exciting. I know that you and Todd are just beside yourselves and so thankful. I pray and can't wait for the day that Kate makes this decision. so thankful for a church home that puts teaching our children truth priority. WElcome to the family, Madyson!
