Ugh-its Sunday Night as I type this (probably Monday by the time I get around to publishing it) and my weekend is over...and went by too fast.
Friday after work-The girls and myself and my mom had a girls night of Chick-fil-a and A huge milestone. Aubrie kate has been begging for her ears to be pierced. I have been putting it off and putting it off and finally made a plan. Once we got to the place-she picked out her earrings ( Pink Glitter Hearts) and set in the chair and did it without a flinch. Madyson-watching-decided that since it didn't hurt Aubrie Kate...she would do it as well. (she had planned to wait until she was ten) She picked out Simple 3mm silver balls. (totally different kids here) and I talked her up to the CZ 3mm "diamond" earrings. She agreed. And as soon as the girl was finished she looked at me and said, "oh my! That hurt so bad." Broke my heart. The girls were so happy though they went out skipping and jumping. They both love their earrings so much :) After I was done crying, we stopped by to pick me up some bigger Maternity jeans...Amelia is growing-by leaps and bounds! (pre-pregnancy size 2...current size 6/8)
Saturday morning we woke up and drove to Baton Rouge to visit family for my Great aunt and uncle's 60th wedding anniversary. After their party-we went out to eat with my cousin Josh, his wife Tina, and their 2 kids. We all use to live 20 houses apart and a few months ago they moved to Baton Rouge. Tina was my decorating buddy-so since they have left-my house has gone to mess :( we miss them!
Sunday (today) we woke up and spent the morning at Cabela's Store. We had a great time. We got home this afternoon and have been resting since!
This week is extremely busy. Work all week + Girl Scout Meeting for Cookies, Amelia's Specialist appointment, Todd has a work meeting, the kids have grief counseling, and then Todd's office has a Christmas party. Not to mention-I have done no Christmas Shopping, my belly is getting huge (I might post a picture...its getting kind of ridiculous), We haven't even done Christmas Card pictures... and I am so far behind on Disney post over on the Disney blog-we will probably be back from our 2014 trip by the time I get around to it.

Happenings
Life Action is over. I am so sad. I really do enjoy coming to church everyday and being fed the word of God. Once they leave, its reality and I know have to do it own my own. I can though.
The greatest thing about Life Action is last night, my dad was in church. Its been a long time since he sat in church for something other than a funeral, wedding, or musical performance. I was so happy he was there.
There has been alot going on in our family so lets catch up, shall we? and excuse the terrible phone photos, my big camera is in todd's truck and I keep forgetting to get it out!
Madyson and her class had a field trip to the Rodeo. Then they had a "Cowboy Lunch" afterwards.
Aubrie Kate had a school music class "parent's day" she loves singing and music.
Finally, after 2 years of praying, wrong roads, etc. Todd and I have completed our 15 hours of adoption training, turned in all paper work, been fingerprinted, and tested for TB.
Next we have our homestudy update then it will be baby time. We have a prospective mom, but we are also looking into the foster system at ages 2 and under. No decisions have been made, because we haven't felt a direct answer from God on which way to go. We knew though we had to finish all this first.
These are my new obsession. I adore them. I also like the smore flavor. great for a quick snack.
We survived valentines day! more on that saturday. Here are the valentines I made for Aubrie's class. Thank you Pintrest!
This weekend we are taking a quick get-a-way to visit Todd's dad, stepmom, and brother. We are excited about our little road trip!

Sarah's Guide to Junkin & Pickin!
Ever since I posted about Junkin & Pickin, I have recieved tons of emails (mostly from people up north?) about "THE SPORT". So I thought I would make a guide for yall - who have been wanting to try but not sure how!
Tip #1 Nothing is junk when you have spray paint. Always keep this in mind. With all the different types of spray paint out there-ANYTHING can be beautiful. Case in point: This table. (i thought about taking the picture *AFTER* I started coat one of spray primer..but you can still see the ugly "blonde" wood.
I picked the top out my junkin pile. The legs I purchased from the home depot. Not my color-but my style.
This was my inspiration:$129.00

After some Spray Primer and Some Spray Paint - I now have this! Total cost $10.65
Tip #2. Garbage collection days are great days to start looking. Just because someone else doesn't want it-doesn't mean you don't.
Tip #3 Consider using things in a different way. Always be open-minded. Just because it is a dresser-doesn't mean it belongs in a bedroom.
Tip #4 If you need a certain size something-know your measurements.
I have certain size openings in my house I want items for. I keep them in my "book of notes" that stays with me in my purse. That way if I ever stumble upon a treasure Ill know if it fits before I buy it!
Tip #5-When Junkin-take cash in small bills!
Tip#6 Do not be afraid to haggle. If you really like this old ugly table and it is 50 dollars ask if they will take 25 if they say 45 say what about 35 most of the time-you will meet in the middle. Also when haggling-point out flaws of the item, "a little wobbly, rusted, needs paint, kind of beat up"
Tip #7 take a friend. I am putting a group together for "trashy girl days" Its much more fun to dig through junk when you have friends to laugh with.
Tip #8 check craigslist for church or mission sales. GREAT place for old ugly CHEAP furniture!
Tip #9. Most "Antique" stores carry real antiques(expensive) most consignment/flea markets carry antiques+junk (affordable). If you really want a 1816 Duncan Phyfe "Piere" Table.
Know the markings to look for.
Now a bit of Background. One reader wanted to know why I started doing this.
My dad is a hoarder. (not the nasty dead cats under boxes kind) We would be riding down the road and see a shelf or a chair in someones garbage and he would go pull it out. FOR YEARS I was so embarrassed. And frustrated. Because most of the time he would do NOTHING with it except store it on our screened in porch. Well about 7 years ago when I got an apartment I needed stuff but had no money. Guess where I went diggin? Yup-daddy's screen porch collections. That's where I discovered my love for repurposing furniture.
The greatest things about junkin & pickin
1)its a cheap hobby
2) if you paint it and don't like it you can re do it.
3) a house with all new stuff doesn't feel like home. When you add some older pieces it feels like it has been collected over the years.
***Tomorrow I will reveal our family room!! With photos of how we used all of the above and more!***
