Friday Pin of the week

I have decided to start doing a Pin of the Week.
...for no other reason than I am obsessed with Pintrest.
So here is this week's Pin!

Chicken Goodness. I made this for the first time last night and it is AMAZING. I threw all the ingredients in the crock pot before work. When I came home I made Rice. Served it over it and it was DIVINE! My only suggestion would be to add a teaspoon of Salt to punch up the flavor.

its just a thursday...

there aren't any pictures of my adorable kids to show at this moment...Its just a thursday and this week is crawling by.
Last night we had our women's bible study. This go around we are studying "Lies Women Believe and the Truth That Sets Them Free." Have you read it? It is a great book.

One of the biggest things in my life right now (and I am opening up here so no mean comments)
is adjusting to the life I have. Now, let me be more specific. Almost a year ago we began our adoption process. And I promise, we have hit so many bumps and dead ends that it isn't even funny. I know this is God's will so its hard for me to accept the thought that we aren't further along. I cannot begin to express to you the guilt I feel when I read articles in the paper about mothers killing their children, not feeding their children, selling their children for sex. Yes, all right here in our wonderful country where anything is suppose to be possible and life is suppose to be full of hopes and dreams.

Each time we have hit a snag in our process (being turned down for domestic by our first choice agency but approved for international, 2nd agency getting shut down...etc. etc) it seems that our beloved #3 is never going to get to us. (all while still "trying" but not conceiving)...My plan for this point in my life was to own our home (check) be done with kitchen remodel (close enough for check) and to be bringing our little one home by Christmas. God though, has a different plan and I am having to remember that I am not in control. And honestly...It is hard.

This week has been extremely emotional for me. Aubrie Kate is now officially not a baby. She is a self sufficient preschooler. Madyson is almost done with her first 9 weeks of public schools...our house is almost complete but our home still is missing that piece.

I know all is good in God's timing and that is the only thing that is pulling me through. Today while pinning I found this.

And I am thinking about blowing it up and putting in everywhere in my house. I might be having a self pity-party today but I cannot let it effect the way I live. I have tons of reason to be blessed and to celebrate. I must let go..and let God do his thing. It will be when it is suppose to be.

The Weekend

This weekend was one of the best weekends I have had in a Long time!

Lets start with Friday! i had an appointment friday morning so I took off work (usually last 2 hours and I only work 6..so including wait time...travel time...the day needed to be off)

Luckily Todd was off this weekend too (including Friday) after the "business was taken care of" we headed to Aubrie Kate's First Field Trip!

As you can tell...Dairy Queen is hit with little miss doodle.

After the field trip Todd and I went to pick Madyson (and our borrowed son Gavin) up from school. We got to go into the classroom and help them make a banner for the upcoming football game! I love kindergarten!!!
After all the markers were recapped we loaded up and got ready to go camping with Gavin's family at Jellystone!
This was our 2nd camping trip but first time to go to Jellystone (sidenote: we are going with the Byrds to Disney in July so this was a great test to see how we would do)

we had so much fun! We went to the water park, went fishing, made smores, played flashlight tag....
See Todd and the kids in the background? Our girls wouldn't go see BooBoo Bear. Madyson said he had fleas....
 But gavin did!

After a relaxing day and a half we got up early Sunday morning to be at church for family dedication! Saturday night Chris and Darla asked Todd and I to be the Godparents of Gavin and Rachel. We were elated!! (we call them our children anyway!)
Then after church we all went home and took our naps! They came over to our house for dinner and Chris and Todd installed my new dishwasher!!! (Yes this kitchen is almost done I promise!!)

But of course...a great weekend ended at the dr. office! Madyson was bitten on her cheek sometime saturday night by something (probably a big ole skeeter!) but it made her face puffy (not normal)
so I took her to the doctor to find out that the bite was least of my concern! She had congestion in her lungs! So we spent most of Monday doing a breathing treatment at the doctors!

She did great! and is doing much better now!!!!!

How was your weekend???

Finding the inner you...

I want to color my hair red. Yes...red. I have lived the majority of my life as a blonde.
my mom always wanted a blonde haired child....so that's what she had. (it use to be very blonde in high school but since I can't pay $85 every 4-6 weeks to maintain it usually is dark blonde)

Of course if I have it taken back to the natural color you get something around this shade.....

but neither really fit me. My skin is a medium tone so the blonde only looks good if im dark. When my hair is natural...i need to wear color on my face to pop.

So I have been searching pintrest for a red that I love. My eyes are green/blue so red seems like a good idea....plus its funky..and I feel alot more funky on the inside than I look on the outside.

So here we go....

I love this color and this girl is like me...has been a shade of all shades (click on the pic to take you to the actual pin)

so who knows? maybe i'll get gutsy and try it! Have you ever dyed your hair an outrageous color?

i did nothing....

This weekend was a first for me. A HUGE first.

Saturday morning Todd had to work and my mom offered to take my girls to a family reunion. I had been suffering from fall/summer sinus mess and just wasn't feeling up to par.

Now, usually when I am home I am doing something...painting, washing, building...something to be productive.

But Saturday I did nothing. I sat on the couch from 9:30 til 4:00 and I watched netflix on demand.

I am not a huge tv person. I have a few shows I watch, but they are always dvr'd and Ill watch them when I am in bed or folding clothes.

So to sit and watch tv all day was....amazing. It was quiet. I am pretty sure I dozed off a few times but in the end I had a day of nothing and it was glorious.

I am pushing myself really hard to stay away from shopping. When you are remodeling there are so many things that you want to complete your project but I really dont NEED all of them...so a Saturday doing nothing is just what I needed!

Grandparents day!

Thursday at school-Madyson's class celebrated Grandparents day.

Grandparents were invited to come and eat lunch with the kids and spend time in their room.

My mom and todd's parents joined in on the fun! Here are some shots Todd's mom sent me =)

madyson with my mom and todd's mom!
Madyson and Gavin on the light up floor in the commons of the school
 some grandaddy love!
Doing a dance in class...madyson thought this was silly that granddaddy and nana were dancing!

I be pinning....

So pintrest....I am obsessed. I have found so many things on there that are amazing.
The Warm Fuzzy Project, Homemade Poptarts and most recently Easy Plum Jam.

Yesterday at church I was given an entire PALLET of plums! now, granted I love fruit. I didn't want the ...uhhum.."after problems" of eating a pallet of plums.

So I searched on pintrest "Plum" and came up on alot of stuff....but this caught my eye!

simple yet delicious looking. And the greatest thing about Pintrest is the story behind the creation!

After reading this story how could I not want to make this! So off I went to get some jars!

I got the girls involved in the making of the jam. They washed the plums and took the stickers off. Madyson measured the ingredients and I did the stirring. 1 hour later....Yummy Jam!

I was very pleased with the taste of this jam. Its a bit tart and still sweet. It is so yummy!

But the greatest part?

That's right! Madyson ate the jam on BREAD! this child has never eaten bread! Not once! And last night...she ate it with her "jam" =)

Do you pin? I would love to hear some of the great things you have found!

Happenings....

Life is pretty boring in the Broadus household right now!

We are waiting on trim to finish the kitchen...and then the big reveal!

In the kids world-Aubrie kate is moving out of the shared room this weekend and into her own bedroom. This came alot sooner than I wanted but their sleep habits are so different (all though better...yes the fuzzies are still working) We need to give them their own space.

The thing that makes me sad is that we aren't going to decorate aubrie's room yet (not in the budget) so Ill have to make due with whatever I have at the house....(gotta get creative)

Madyson is loving Kindergarten. She is really is! She comes home everyday and we talk and she shares about her day. She is meeting new friends and still keeping close to the old ones. She is amused by how different everyone is. I love hearing her talk about her friends and their last names and who stayed on green and who she was nice too...etc.

That's about as exciting as our life is right now=)

How I make Zucchini Bread

How I make zucchini bread.

1) pull out the ole kitchen aid mixer!

2) start with 2eggs, 1 tablespoon of vanilla, 1 1/3 cup of sugar and mix

3)add 3 cups of shredded zucchini

4) add 2 sticks of melted butter

5) add 3 cups of self-rising flour, 1 cup at a time

6) add 1tsp of nutmeg and 2tsp of cinnamon

7) scoop into sprayed muffin tins

Bake on 400 until you can stick a fork in and they are done.

I get the girls involved in this. Madyson shreds the zucchini, aubrie adds in the ingredients and they bake "cupcakes". They also eat their cupcakes. =)
