whats been going on in our world!

Wow this week has been a worldwind!

Todd had knee surgery last thursday!

Here he is in pre-op getting his legs shaved (i know he loves me for putting this out there)

Here he is after! They had to remove 2 spurs (one per knee) so he has been out of commission for awhile. We go back on Monday to get everything checked out!

Todd was still on TONS of meds in this picture. When he came out of surgery he said, "hand me my phone...i need to tweet that I am out of surgery" his tweet looked liked this "ima outsergie"

Bob, my biological dad has been in town, hanging out and helping me with Todd. It has been a lot of fun to have him here. This is our 3rd time together and each time I find more of myself in him. This time around he has been able to hang out more with us and with my parents. They are enjoying having him here.

Other than that, life is pretty boring! I have been making the girls costumes for Fall Harvest! Ill post those as soon as I finish!

2 prayer request:
1) My friend Allison (we were in school together, she is 2 years my junior) and her husband found out a few weeks ago that their 2 year old daughter Cayleigh has neuroblastoma (cancer in her upper legs) Cayleigh is in the children's hospital here in town and is undergoing chemo to help, then looking at surgery. You can click on Allison's name to go to their caringbridge site and read the whole story and send them some encouragement. They also have 3 other children (2 of which are twin 7 month olds)

2)My friend Jessi (we also were in school together, she is the grade below me) had a baby last week. She had been having some problems (not child related) and ended up having an infection that  spread throughout her body. Without going into a lot of detail, she is doing better today, than yesterday but still is in ICU and needs prayers. Please remember her, her husband, and their 2 sons.

Feeling Orange!

Saturday I had a mission. To have a fun-filled family day where we didn't think about anything but each other!

We decided to go to the pumpkin patch! It was alot of fun! My mom joined in on the trip, since she has never been to one! We have been going to Lazy Acres Pumpkin Patch since 2007! It is a tradition we look forward to each year! Last year there was a TON of rain in October, so we missed going. The owners have changed almost everything about the patch, reinventing it to accommodate everyone! They have done a great job! The girls favorite thing...Pumpkin Sippers! Little Pumpkins that are filled with Orange Kool-Aid! They look forward to getting a new one each visit!

Here are the girls on the little horse swings!!!

 Aubrie was petrified!!!

Here is Nana with her 2 little girls! The 2 big girls were at home waiting on the At&t man.

Here is me and the hubby! I decided to break out my "teenage plaid" shirt for the trip to the farm!

 posing by the pumpkins =)

Aubrie got distracted and wanted to look at Christmas trees.

 Madyson played corn toss!!!

Aubrie and Todd did Pumpkin Chunkin (see aubrie's pumpkin as it fell out of the shoot?)

And here is the family!!! We had so much fun!!!

Here is Aubrie in 2008 & 2010!

I asked Madyson what she didn't like about JumpStart, "wloadin" (Loading)

I asked Madyson what she did like about JumpStart, "dress up centers and counting" (I think she might be a math person?)

JumpStart Review: From a mom's eyes

This weekend we had the pleasure of reviewing the JumpStart online games. I have decided in order to fully share our experience that I would break up the review into 2 segments. My thoughts and Madyson's thoughts.

Tonight, I am going to share my thoughts on this product.

When you log on to JumpStart you get to select which child is playing, you can have up to 6 kids on one account. I liked this because in a year or so Madyson, Aubrie, and Myself can all play together.

I created my Jumpeez (my character) and proceeded. I played around in Storyland (for 3-5 year olds), The science world, MarineLand... I really just explored. I like to know what Madyson is doing and how to operate the site in case she gets frustrated. I found the land/world of JumpStart to be fun! It is decorated for halloween right now, so its "festive" but not scary. I exlored the world for little kids (3-5) and middle kids (6-7) and big kids (8 & up.) The good thing about this site is that it is a family friendly environment so if you have little kids and big kids, everyone can play.

As a parent, I want the best education possible for my children. When teaching my girls I utilize workbooks, board games, manipulatives, television and computers. I love having technology in the mix. I am a big believer in changing with the times, and although flashcards are great, so is JumpStart online world.

From my opinion (remember you'll hear Madyson's tomorrow) She interacted very well with the game. It did take the system a little while (around 45sec-1min) to load, but thats our computer, not their program. That was the most frustrating thing for her. Once she was in the world she ran with it. She played around, changed her jumpeez to have pink hair, she just played and played. I decided to check out the JumpStart facebook page, it gave me some tips on games and "what is going on in the world" there is also a blog that helps parents as well. It was a great resource to have when learning a new system.

Who wants to win!??!?!?!

The other day, I was approached by a representative from Knowledge Adventures, the creators of the great JumpStart and Math Blasters series of educational games for kids. She wants me (and Madyson) to do a review of their online kids games and let them know what we think about it!

Well, we started today and I think this is going to be a match made in heaven!

My plan is to review it over the weekend and Monday tell yall our HONEST opinion on the site. Madyson is going to do a video review to show how a child can operate it and I will give you my parents review.

I strive daily to make sure my kids are filled with educational programs and games. I remember trying to learn stuff as a child and being so bored! The blessing of being a "child of today" is having the internet at their fingertips to help make learning fun!

So how does this involve you?

It is my PLEASURE to announce, that I have been given the opportunity to give away a 3 month online membership!!!

Here is how you will win!

1) Be a public follower of my blog
2) leave a comment on my review post on Monday

THATS IT! I'll have random generator pick a winner on Wednesday of next week!

How easy and FUN is that?!?! Oh how I LOVE to give stuff away!
