Girls Trip

The past weekend I had the pleasure of having a girls weekend...by accident.

See, Todd's parents were unable to go with us to Disney, so they planned a trip for all of us to go to the beach. Well it just so happens that Todd got stuck working so if I was going to go, I had to take the girls and go alone.

Until, my wonderful mother-in-law suggested I bring my sister and my nieces. So off the 6 of us trucked to Fort Walton, Florida for a weekend of fun! We hung out on the beach, ate yummy seafood, and shopped!

Here are a few pictures~
Ellie (6), Aubrie (2), Madyson (4), Emma (11)

oh how I hate my knees

Aubrie loves the beach

Beautiful, huh??

shaking it! She is such a ham

....***The reason madyson is missing from alot of pictures is that she stayed with my MIL alot in the room and at the pool***.....

no im not dead.

Thank you to my concerned reader that emailed us (thebroadusbunch@gmail.com) to ask if I was dead. No, I am not dead but you got me thinking...what if I was? So i have written a blog post for Todd to post in case that ever is the situation. Always be prepared right???

Anywho. I (along with my boss..Joseph, and the other 2 ladies in our office) got the bright idea we were going to have Summer Camp this week, 8-5, for 80 1st-6th graders. I guess since VBS didn't kill us, we thought we could do this! hahahahahhahaha So far....so good! We are in day 3 and nobody has gotten lost, or hurt (besides us old people). Although, yesterday was almost the end of my time. I had a little girl ask me if I was a cheerleader, I told her no I was a mommy. She asked if I was a cheerleader before I was a mommy. I told her yes, I was along...longgggg time ago. She asked if I could tumble. I told her I use too.
Somehow I ended up being peer pressured to do a back handspring (which I haven't done in a VERY long time) needless to say. I made it over, I didn't break my neck, but i thought I was going to have to go to the doctor and get my double c-section scar re sewn together. I was in severe pain. But I pulled it off, she never knew, and my guts didn't fall out. BUT NEVER AGAIN will I do that. I must remember that I am 26 and not 16.

So here are a few pictures from day 1 of camp. I will post more once Melissa puts them up, I am stealing from her facebook!

We slimmed kids. This poor dude got a question wrong. It was great.
This is Joseph and Jennifer (and me in the background)
after slime, we decided to do a food fight. We used the left over slime, added some pork-n-beans, sauerkraut, cherries, corn and pees. It was great!

WOW.

So yesterday on a whim I reposted my "Show Us Your Life Single Guys" to display my friend Brian.

Well, less than 24 hours later. I have had over 3000 hits and 28 comments! I am floored by the response (Actually I knew he would be a hit, but I had no idea there were that many FABULOUS women out there!!)

I promise everyone that

1) Brian (his mom & his sister) have access to this blog to read all your comments.
2) If you have sent me your email, your friends email, or your daughters email I have passed them along.
3) He is completly flattered but totally overwhelmed! When I told him about this I told him I was displaying him on SUYL as my favorite single friend....we had no idea that it would esclade into the dating game!

Like I said, You are all fabulous women and if something does come out of any of this  I will be exstatic!!

I pray for each of you that you all find that great guy you are looking for! Brian is certainly an amazing "catch" for any woman!

And as a married woman I can verify that even though a man cannot "fulfill" your life, he can fill it with so much love. I hope that everyone of you get your prince charming SOON!

Thank you again for taking an interest in our Brian. He is such a special guy!

Redoing the Room

I will continue with our Disney post next week, but right now I need some major opinions.

We are turning our once formal dining room/then living room/then play room/ then man room into a "discovery room"

I have cleaned and organized all the kids toys so they fit in their bedroom. But I want to have a space where they learn. With Madyson going to 4k this year she is going to be learning writing, spelling and such and aubrie has to master all the basic 2 year old knowledge of colors, shapes, alphabet etc.

I don't want this room to be boring. I want it to be BRIGHT and be BOLD and be CHEERFUL!

It has doors and they close so it doesn't have to "match" the rest of the house and we aren't going anywhere for a while so Im not worried about resell.

What color do you think I should paint it? Send links to colors, color names....know where I can find a big wall map?? I need ideas help me out!

The Broadus': Do Disney: Part 1

We are back!!!

Did you miss us? I hope you all stayed entertained with the posts from last week.

But now....TO DISNEY!

We left a day earlier than we planned (which was fine with me!)
We stayed off grounds but right outside the disney property for the night. When we arrived we went straight to Downtown Disney to shop and eat at Planet Hollywood. My parents had heard about this place from friends and wanted to try it. We were in an out with in 1 hour, great food and good start to our vacation!

After that we went shopping at the World of Disney store and watched the fireworks that were going on at the parks!

We got back to the hotel around 11pm. We had to get some sleep to get ready for our first "real day in Disney"

We woke up at 7am and got dressed. We headed 6 minutes down the road to our Disney Resort, The All-star music resort. This is a value resort but was very nice. We had a family suite and had plenty of room!

We got our tickets, ate some breakfast and headed to Epcot. When we got to Epcot, Stitch was there to great us!

We checked to make sure Madyson was big enough to ride all the "big girl rides"

which she was! Although, after Test Track she didn't ride another one!

We met some REAL CHARACTERS!

We had dinner with the Princesses

we visited the countries, ate tons of food, GOT SOAKED right before the fireworks but had a great day!
We got to bed around 11pm because Cinderella had invited us to the Castle the next morning for birthday breakfast!

Show Us Your Life: SINGLE GUYS!!!

Edited to Update
*THIS POST WAS WRITTEN IN 2010 and remains THE most popular post on our site. Brian is now in a relationship and is very happy.*

Friendship is like a prism through which the many variations of beauty are revealed in our lives.

This week on Kelly's Korner "Show Us Your Life" we are suppose to display our "Single Guys". Now I am sure that most women are going to do their sons, nephews, cousins, brothers...but I have chosen to present you with my idea of the perfect guy (next to Todd of course), my life long friend, Brian.

This is Brian.

Brian and I have been friends almost our entire lives. He lived down the street from me, we were in class together, we had the same group of friends, we both played soccer (well he excelled I was just there) and we have always just been close. I consider him one of my greatest and most "bestest" friends ever.

Brian graduated high school the same year I did (2002) with so many honors, it would need its own post.
He played soccer and baseball and was in numerous organizations.

After high school he went to college at the University of Southern Mississippi.
(our plan was to go together and be roommates, our parents were cool with this because we are just like brother/sister but I was too busy chasing boys to fulfill our plan, so he went alone)

There he majored in Business Administration.
He was also a member of the SAE fraternity ...not just a member, president.

After his years of being a Golden Eagle, he came back to Jackson to attend
Mississippi College School of Law.
Funny thing is, I worked there at the time! So he became one of my student workers! I got to keep a good eye on him this way!

He graduated from Law School and now has a big boy job! He lives in a prime area and spends his time doing numerous things such as raising money for Magnolia Speech School (local school for deaf children), serving ice cream and hanging out with the kids of Boys & Girls Club, hanging out with his friends, playing/watching sports, spending time with family, and traveling.

Speaking of family. His is GREAT! You know how you always want a good set of In-Laws? Well, Mrs. Charlotte and Mr. Randy are amazing parents. They are fun, they are grounded, and most importantly they are supportive. Also in this package is big sister Lauren, her husband and precious baby girl (who by the way, Brian ADORES)

Swooning yet? Todd says he appreciates my childhood best friend because he is probably the only other male in my entire life that has put up with so much from me but still wants to be my friend. =)

I wanted to make sure Brian knew I was posting him on SUYL so I asked him a few questions for all you single ladies.....
Things he looks for in a girl
Sense of humor, family oriented, enjoys working out and athletics, and ambitious

Three words he uses to describe himself:
1) Driven
2) Social
3)Loyal

He feels that his biggest accomplishment so far in life is all the great relationships he has formed with people. B is a great friend and this is shown by how everyone loves him.

And finally I asked him the most important question:
"Where do you see yourself in 10 years?" his response...
"Married with a family of my own and doing something I love for a job."

Brian is that kind of guy that you meet and are instantly taken away by. He is good-looking (don't tell him I told you), He has a to-die for personality, and He has such a great heart.

Sunday Girls Design: Feature

Whenever I find something I love, I feel like I need to shout from the roof tops
so EVERYONE can love them.

Today, I'm featuring Sunday Girls Designs.

I stumbled upon this Etsy store in my quest to find the perfect baby shower invitation.

The girls took my thoughts and turned it into:

I loved it so much, I decided to go back to them for Madyson's Birthday Party Invitations.
I couldn't find what I wanted, the child was having a "pizza princess" party but didn't want the Disney princesses (since her Disney princess party was going to be in Disney) So I emailed Sarah & Megan and told them I needed a princess pizza party invitation.
The next day they sent me two drafts

Since Madyson has Brown hair we went with that one, but even though it was cute...it still wasn't Madyson.
I sent them a description of her and they whipped out this amazing creation

Aren't the glasses and the star burst to die for? The best thing is to have this custom creations was $15.00 a design. They sent me the jpeg and I printed them out on my home computer! I contacted them on the 9th and had the final product by the 12th. I call that some FAST service!!! They customize everything from colors, to fonts...possibilities are endless!

Go and visit my friends over at Sunday Girls Designs!

The Waterbottle!
Isaiah 65:24
This is a story written by a doctor who worked in Africa . One night I had worked hard to help a mother in the labor ward; but in spite of all we could do, she died, leaving us with a tiny, premature baby and a crying two-year-old daughter. We would have difficulty keeping the baby alive; as we had no incubator (we had no electricity to run an incubator). We also had no special feeding facilities.
Although we lived on the equator, nights were often chilly with treacherous drafts. One student midwife went for the box we had for such babies and the cotton wool that the baby would be wrapped in. Another went to stoke up the fire and fill a hot water bottle. She came back shortly in distress to tell me that in filling the bottle, it had burst (rubber perishes easily in tropical climates).
'And it is our last hot water bottle!' she exclaimed. As in the West, it is no good crying over spilled milk, so in Central Africa

it might be considered no good crying over burst water bottles. They do not grow on trees, and there are no drugstores down forest pathways.
'All right,' I said, 'put the baby as near the fire as you safely can, and sleep between the baby and the door to keep it free from drafts Your job is to keep the baby warm.'
The following noon, as I did most days, I went to have prayers with any of the orphanage children who chose to gather with me. I gave the youngsters various suggestions of things to pray about and told them about the tiny baby. I explained our problem about keeping the baby warm enough, mentioning the hot water bottle, and that the baby could so easily die if it got chills. I also told them of the two-year-old sister, crying because her mother had died.
During prayer time, one ten -year-old girl, Ruth, prayed with the usual blunt conciseness of our African children. 'Please, God' she prayed, 'Send us a hot water bottle today It'll be no good tomorrow, God, as the baby will be dead, so please send it this afternoon.'
While I gasped inwardly at the audacity of the prayer, she added, 'And while You are about it, would You please send a dolly for the little girl so she'll know You really love her?'
As often with children's prayers, I was put on the spot. Could I honestly say 'Amen?' I just did not believe that God could do this.
Oh, yes, I know that He can do everything; the Bible says so. But there are limits, aren't there? The only way God could answer this particular prayer would be by sending me a parcel from the homeland. I had been in Africa for almost four years at that time, and I had never, ever, received a parcel from home.
Anyway, if anyone did send me a parcel, who would put in a hot water bottle? I lived on the equator!
Halfway through the afternoon, while I was teaching in the nurses' training school, a message was sent that there was a car at my front door. By the time I reached home, the car had gone, but there on the verandah was a large 22-pound parcel. I felt tears pricking my eyes. I could not open the parcel alone, so I sent for the orphanage children.. Together we pulled off the string, carefully undoing each knot. We folded the paper, taking care not to tear it unduly Excitement was mounting. Some thirty or forty pairs of eyes were focused on the large cardboard box. From the top, I lifted out brightly-colored, knitted jerseys. Eyes sparkled as I gave them out. Then there were the knitted bandages for the leprosy patients, and the children looked a little bored.. Then came a box of mixed raisins and sultanas - that would make a batch of buns for the weekend.
Then, as I put my hand in again, I felt the.....could it really be?
I grasped it and pulled it out. Yes, a brand new, rubber hot water bottle. I cried.
I had not asked God to send it; I had not truly believed that He could.
Ruth was in the front row of the children. She rushed forward, crying out, 'If God has sent the bottle, He must have sent the dolly, too!'
Rummaging down to the bottom of the box, she pulled out the small, beautifully-dressed dolly. Her eyes shone! She had never doubted!
Looking up at me, she asked, 'Can I go over with you and give this dolly to that little girl, so she'll know that Jesus really loves her?'
'Of course,' I replied!
That parcel had been on the way for five whole months, packed up by my former Sunday school class, whose leader had heard and obeyed God's prompting to send a hot water bottle, even to the equator.
And one of the girls had put in a dolly for an African child - five months before, in answer to the believing prayer of a ten-year-old to bring it 'that afternoon.'

'Before they call, I will answer.' (Isaiah 65:24)
